Marian J. Richetta, Psy.D. (Lic. #MFC17543) is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in private practice treating a variety of problems, including depression, anxiety, trauma, stress, personality disorders, bi-polar disorder, and relationship conflicts. Her office is located in La Jolla, California and she has been practicing psychotherapy since 1982.
Dr. Richetta holds a B.A. in English from San Diego State University, an M.A. in Marriage, Family and Child Counseling from United States International University, and a Psy.D. in Contemporary Psychoanalysis from the Institute of Contemporary Psychoanalysis.
She has received specialized training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, brief, strategic therapy, group psychotherapy, and hypnosis. She earned a Doctorate in Contemporary Psychoanalysis from The Institute of Contemporary Psychoanalysis in Los Angeles in 2010 and was granted the status of Training and Supervising Analyst in 2012.
She has eleven years’ experience teaching English and has worked in psychiatric hospitals, in both inpatient and outpatient settings. She also has held a part-time appointment as (Health Sciences) Assistant Clinical Professor, Non-Salaried, in the Department of Family Medicine and Public Health at the University of California, San Diego, School of Medicine from September, 2010 to the present.
Dr. Richetta is a clinical member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists and the International Association for Psychoanalytic Self Psychology. She is the mother of two adult children.
